It is possible that the first gunshot was a signal on which the paintball marker fired, merging its sound with the sound of the second gunshot. Trump ducked down into safety.

The Ninth Shot remains, in my opinion, a mystery, despite the explanations. If the version of Two or Three Shooters is correct, it is hypothetically possible that the first gunman Crooks was shot by the second (shots 4-8) or the third (the mysterious shot 9) gunmen who escaped, with the last (shot 10, ascribed to SS) very likely missing him behind the trees, with the estimated chance of hitting him there as "one in a million", according to the reports - see previous posts.
