“Memorial rights group has declared Dmitriyev a political prisoner and says the real reason for his prosecution appears to be “his activity in preserving the memory of political repressions”.
Memorial, which investigates Soviet-era persecution of political prisoners and also campaigns against present-day rights abuses, says it could be shut by the year’s end.”

For the "Domestic Security Services" (various KGB-s), it is a double mint gum: not only the imprisonment and neutralisation of their opponents, but their DISCREDITATION, exploited to the last drop for their own propaganda and publicity purposes.
These "Services" are the PERVERSION INCARNATE, the source of the most base and lowly insticts, feelings, fantasies and projections. Many (if not all) of their officers operate on the premise: "It takes a thief to catch a thief". They are criminals very deep at their hearts; becoming the "professional anti-criminals" is their psychological defense mechanism, helping them to "keep appearances", to ward off the unacceptable criminal impulses, and to resolve their conflict. For how long and how strong, that's the question!
This psychology has to be studied and understood, if you want to understand the roles, functions, and functioning of those "bureaus and agencies", simply the domestic secret services and generically, the KGB-s.
