The "Crossfire Hurricane" investigation started soon after the  convenient emergence of one of its "Typhoons", George Papadopoulos, who was investigated by Mueller for Israel - Mossad connection. 

"Crossfire Hurricane began after the FBI received a tip that George Papadopoulos, a Trump campaign adviser, had prior knowledge of Russian efforts to release damaging information on 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

The investigation was eventually taken over by Special Counsel Robert Mueller's broader Russia investigation in May 2017."

Mueller looked into whether George Papadopoulos acted as an Israeli agent

In a section addressing whether any members of the Trump campaign were acting for foreign governments, it emerges that Mueller looked into whether George Papadopoulos, a former member of the president’s foreign policy advisory panel, acted on behalf of the Israeli government. Papadopoulos and his wife had both previously made claims to the media that Mueller had probed his ties with Israel. The report confirms their accounts. “While the investigation revealed significant ties between Papadopoulos and Israel (and search warrants were obtained in part on that basis), the Office ultimately determined that the evidence was not sufficient to obtain and sustain a conviction under [the Foreign Agents Registration Act] or Section 951” of the tax code, the report reads.

Allegedly, he received about $10,000 as a "retainer" from some mysterious Israeli, assumedly the Mossad operator.

Intriguingly, though, Papadopoulos has also agreed, in advance, to pay a fine of $9,500. He has the money in cash, ready and waiting, locked in a safe to await the day of sentencing, according to Mueller’s written submission to the court.

Under current sentencing guidelines, $9,500 is the maximum fine for the offence, so despite being lenient about the jail term Mueller is actually seeking the toughest financial penalty and Papadopoulos is not objecting.

The fine, however, is not quite what it seems. A cryptic section in Mueller’s submission to the court says it will be paid with money that Papadopoulos acquired from a dubious source:

“The defendant provided information about $10,000 in cash he received from a foreign national whom he believed was likely an intelligence officer of a foreign country (other than Russia).” ...

an Israeli businessman in his mid-sixties — who they are now convinced he was an agent for the Mossad — offered Papdopoulos $10,000 in cash. According to Mangiante, the payment was “not to be a consultant, just to, let’s say, ‘keep [his] engagements’.”

Now we know that James Comey was as usually quite inventive and nice, and provided Papadopoulos with a honey pot or two in his highly loyal hopes to catch a Big Bee, somehow. 

The head of the FBI Counterintelligence at that time was Bill Priestap, quite interesting and secretive personality, in his own right. 

Other interesting  names are late James Kallstrom, and Charles McGonigal, now in prison for seemingly unrelated offenses. 

So that's how the story started. It is the story of the "Trump-Russia" as the cover for the "Trump-Mossad" - 2016, with a sequel in 2024.

Yes, that's a valid point. Historical and intelligence studies inherently examine past events and information, making them retrospective in nature. • Pattern Recognition: Analyzing historical data can help identify recurring patterns and behaviors, which is crucial for building predictive models and understanding future trends.
• Lesson Learning: Retrospective studies allow for the evaluation of past successes and failures, leading to the refinement of strategies and policies.

For example, in historical analysis, examining past wars or economic crises can provide valuable insights into conflict escalation, economic cycles, and the effectiveness of different strategies. In intelligence analysis, studying past intelligence failures can help improve collection methods, analytical techniques, and communication protocols. [1, 2, 2, 12, 13, 14]

While the retrospective nature of these studies offers significant advantages, it's important to acknowledge that they also have limitations, such as the possibility of bias or the difficulty of interpreting complex historical events. [2]

I would add: Yes, on the basis of studying the past and trying to understand it. And as the result of the endless attempts to change the present by the actions of the leading world intelligence services.
