Bei ihrer Großoffensive gegen die russischen Angreifer versucht die Ukraine nach Angaben der stellvertretenden Verteidigungsministerin auch, russische Soldaten kampflos zur Aufgabe zu bewegen. Dazu würden noch vor dem Eintreffen der ukrainischen Streitkräfte mit Flyern gefüllte Geschosse gestartet, sagte Hanna Maljar. «Russen nutzen euch als Kanonenfutter. Euer Leben bedeutet ihnen nichts. Ihr braucht diesen Krieg nicht. Ergebt euch den Streitkräften der Ukraine», heißt es auf den Schriftstücken.
Unterdessen hielt die Offensive, bei der Kiew besonders im Nordosten große Flächen von Russland zurückeroberte, auch am Dienstag an. Es war zwar unklar, ob die blitzartigen Erfolge des ukrainischen Militärs einen Wendepunkt in dem Krieg signalisieren könnten, in dem der russische Präsident Wladimir Putin noch immer weitere Truppen und Ressourcen mobilisieren könnte. Jedoch veröffentlichten Vertreter der Ukraine eifrig Aufnahmen, die etwa zeigten, wie Soldaten des Landes russische Flaggen verbrannten und zurückgelassene Panzer inspizierten. In einem Video rissen Grenzwächter ein Poster herunter, auf dem es hieß: «Wir sind ein Volk mit Russland».

King Charles III and the Queen Consort met with Northern Ireland's political leaders at Hillsborough Castle on Tuesday (13 September) in the first visit by a King to the region in 80 years.
Footage shows His Majesty shaking hands with first minister-designate, and Sinn Fein leader, Michelle O’Neill and DUP leader Sir Jeffrey Donaldson, among others.
The speaker of the Stormont Assembly, Sinn Fein's Alex Maskey, offered a message of condolence to the King on behalf of the people of Northern Ireland.

Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin is carried onto an RAF plane, accompanied by Princess Anne, ahead of leaving Scotland for the final time.
The late monarch will be flown back to London on Tuesday evening (13 September) and will be taken to Buckingham Palace shortly after.
Her body had been lying in state in Edinburgh’s St Giles’ Cathedral since Monday afternoon.
The Queen will soon lie in state at Westminster Hall in London, where more members of the public can pay their respects, ahead of her funeral next Monday.

Queen Elizabeth II's coffin has left St Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh to be transported to Buckingham Palace today, 13 September.
Members of the public queues for hours to view the coffin and pay their respects to the late monarch, who died aged 96 on 8 September.
The Queen's coffin will be driven to Edinburgh airport this evening, with well-wishers expected to line the route.
Princess Anne will accompany her coffin by plane to RAF Northolt, before travelling to Buckingham Palace.

The band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland performed the national anthem as Queen Elizabeth II left Scotland for the final time on Tuesday, 13 September.
Footage shows the moment the plane carrying Her late Majesty took off from Edinburgh Airport for London, where mourners will be able to pay their respects.
The Queen will lie in rest at Buckingham Palace until Wednesday, when she will be ceremonially moved to Westminster Hall, where she will remain until her funeral next Monday.
Queen Elizabeth passed away at her Scottish residence, Balmoral Castle, on Thursday, 8 September.
