Former Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe has died at the age of 67.
Earlier in the day, Mr Abe had been shot with a rifle in the middle of a speech given in Nara and suffered a cardiopulmonary attack.
The top intelligence agencies in the US and UK releasing a statement warning of “the perils of Chinese espionage and influence” is incredible, says Liberal Party Defence and National Security Policy Chair Lincoln Parker.
“Indeed, we saw evidence of this occur just two weeks ago, with Chinese information warfare attacking an Australian publicly-listed mining company,” he told Sky News host Chris Smith.
“So the Chinese influence and information warfare operations went into full swing in the United States to try and get this stropped.
“Fortunately, it didn’t work and we stopped it.”
