Der russische Angriffskrieg gegen die Ukraine geht weiter. Mit eindringlichen Worten richtet sich der ukrainische Präsident Wolodymyr Selenskyj in einer Videobotschaft an die russische Bevölkerung und spricht über die schweren Kriegsverluste.
Russische Streitkräfte haben ukrainischen Angaben zufolge eine Kunstschule in der belagerten Stadt Mariupol bombardiert, in der mehrere hundert Menschen Zuflucht gefunden hatten. Das Gebäude sei bei dem Angriff am Samstag zerstört worden, unter den Trümmern seien noch Menschen eingeschlossen, teilte die Stadtverwaltung am Sonntag auf dem Messengerdienst Telegram mit. Demnach hatten sich rund 400 Einwohner - "Frauen, Kinder und ältere Menschen" - in der Schule G12 aufgehalten.
Die strategisch wichtige Hafenstadt im Südosten der Ukraine ist seit Wochen Ziel heftiger Bombardements durch die russischen Streitkräfte und ihre Verbündeten aus den Separatistengebieten. Am Mittwoch hatten russische Einheiten nach Angaben der Behörden bereits ein Theater in Mariupol angegriffen, in das sich hunderte Einwohner geflüchtet hatten - und obwohl demnach vor beiden Seiten des Gebäudes gut sichtbar das Wort "Kinder" auf Russisch auf den Boden gemalt war.
Bis Sonntag gab es keine abschließenden Angaben zu möglichen Opfern in dem Theater, da die Aufräumarbeiten laut den Behörden andauerten. Russland wies die Vorwürfe zu diesem Angriff zurück und machte die nationalistische ukrainische Asow-Brigade für den Angriff verantwortlich.
Laut der Stadtverwaltung von Mariupol wurden unterdessen zahlreiche Einwohner gegen ihren Willen nach Russland gebracht. Zuvor seien ihnen noch in speziellen Lagern die ukrainischen Pässe abgenommen worden. Die russischen Streitkräfte hätten auf diese Weise bereits mehr als tausend Einwohner aus dem Osten der Stadt deportiert, teilte der Leiter der Regionalverwaltung von Donezk, Pawlo Kyrylenko, im Onlinenetzwerk Facebook mit.
Nach Angaben von Petro Andrjuschtschenko, eines Beraters von Mariupols Bürgermeister, wurden die Bewohner in die russischen Städte Tomsk, Wladimir und Jaroslawl gebracht. Von unabhängiger Seite ließen sich diese Angaben nicht überprüfen.
Mariupol ist die letzte große Hafenstadt am Asowschen Meer unter ukrainischer Kontrolle. Seit Beginn der russischen Invasion am 24. Februar wurden nach Angaben der ukrainischen Regierung wurden mehr als 2100 Einwohner der Stadt getötet. Die Lage für die Menschen der belagerten Stadt sei "katastrophal.
Präsident Wolodymyr Selenskyj sprach am Sonntag von einem "Terrorakt" gegenüber einer friedlichen Stadt, an den man sich noch im kommenden Jahrhundert erinnern würde. Dies sei ein "Kriegsverbrechen" der russischen Seite.
Sollte Mariupol fallen, würde dies den Zusammenschluss der russischen Truppen mit Einheiten aus der Krim und den Separatistengebieten im Donbass ermöglichen.
