A Conspiracy Theory Is Proved Wrong
_This episode contains strong language. _

Pelosi to GOP leadership on response to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene: “What could they be thinking?”
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi slammed Republican leadership on their failure to rebuke Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene over her past comments. Greene repeatedly indicated support for executing prominent Democratic politicians, including Pelosi, in 2018 and 2019 before being elected to Congress. The House Speaker is also criticizing Greene’s placement on the House Education and Labor Committee after comments surfaced that showed her agreeing with people who said the 2018 Parkland school shooting was a “false flag” operation. Democratic Congresswoman Haley Stevens is a member of that committee and has called for Greene’s removal. She tells Anderson Cooper these types of antics have no place in their committee. Plus, South Carolina has detected the first U.S. cases of the Covid-19 strain first seen in South Africa. Scientists are concerned about this strain because it seems to be more transmissible. Dr. Leana Wen is the former Baltimore Health Commissioner, an emergency room physician and is a CNN Medical Analyst. She joins AC360 to discuss her concerns about the new variant.

EU 'should consider' legal action in AstraZeneca vaccine row
The head of the European Council, Charles Michel, says the EU will make use of all legal means to enforce agreements with pharmaceutical companies for the delivery of coronavirus vaccines. The EU has clashed with AstraZeneca over reductions in supply of its vaccine. A senior member of the European Parliament tells Newshour the EU is planning to introduce measures to ensure transparency, but it will not ban vaccine exports.

How Trumpism Led To An Ideological War Over Voice Of America
In its very first broadcast, the U.S.-government-run service called Voice of America pledged honesty.
"The news may be good and it may be bad. We shall tell you the truth."
The idea was to model a free press, especially for audiences in places that might not have one. Places where political parties and governments might pressure or intimidate journalists.
But over the past seven months, Voice of America and its federal parent organization, U.S. Agency for Global Media, have been caught in an ideological war. Employees say agency CEO Michael Pack, an appointee of former President Donald Trump, obsessed over staff loyalty and embraced conspiracy theories.
NPR media correspondent David Folkenflik talked to more than 60 current and former staffers. He's put together a comprehensive picture of Pack's radical tenure.

It seems increasingly plausible that Covid-19 originated in fur farms, especially mink, as our investigation shows. At the end of December 2020, Reporterre revealed that the strains responsible for the two epidemic waves that engulfed Europe emerged nearby to a number of large mink farms. Reporterre continued its investigation in China. On 8 January, Science published an article stressing the need to study the link between Covid and mink farms.
