Trump, Gimme Shelter! And keep your rage! - The call to the Bully

This song is the primal scream for the universal basic safety and dignity of the human existence. It is about the children crying out to other children, warning them about the dangers and death.

Trump, Gimme Shelter!

Donald Trump's grandfather Fred left Germany for America in search of shelter and safety. His father Fred, the American fascist, built cheap, barracks like housings in Brooklyn for the German Jewish refugees, and also for the Nazi criminals fleeing the prosecution. Donald himself climbed to the pinnacle of the Fifth avenue magnificent shelter building, the favorite spot for the Russian "bratva". His whole family was in this business for more than a hundred years. And now he denies the right for shelter and basic safety to the homeless of the Washington D.C. because they are an eyesore and he wants them out of sight - out of mind.
I say: Donald, if you want to build a real, not a phony legacy of your presidencies, do solve the problem of homelessness in America! It is abnormal, wide spread, is the product of the enormous, intense, excessive social competition, or in different language, the result of the intra-species aggression and cannibalism.
It is difficult to solve it, but possible. Prove and show to everyone that you can do it.

Based on recent events, the phrase "Trump, Gimme Shelter!" appears to be connected to calls from Donald Trump for action regarding crime and homelessness in Washington D.C., possibly referencing the Rolling Stones song "Gimme Shelter", but potentially in a different context or referring to a related podcast.
Context and potential meanings
  • Evicting homeless people from Washington DC: Donald Trump has made social media posts and announced plans to address homelessness and crime in Washington D.C., stating the homeless need to move out, according to NBC4 Washington. He suggested providing shelter "far from the Capital" and imprisoning criminals.
  • Trump and Rolling Stones music: The Rolling Stones previously warned Trump against using their music at his campaign rallies and threatened legal action if he continued doing so.
  • "Gimme Shelter" Podcast: "Gimme Shelter" is the title of a CalMatters podcast and Los Angeles Times podcast focused on California's housing crisis, which has examined Trump's statements and policies related to housing, suburbs, and homelessness.
  • Trump's comments on the suburbs: Trump has made comments warning about Democrats' housing policies and their potential impact on "Suburban Housewives of America", using rhetoric that has been linked to historical patterns of racial segregation in housing by the "Gimme Shelter" podcast.
Current developments
  • Trump's statements about relocating homeless individuals from Washington D.C. have drawn attention and criticism, according to Newsweek.
  • There are questions about the legal authority Trump has to carry out such actions, as his control over the city is limited to federal land and buildings.
  • Reports suggest that the Trump administration may consider deploying the National Guard to Washington D.C. to address crime concerns.
  • Crime statistics provided by the Washington D.C. police department contradict Trump's claims of a rising crime wave, showing a decrease in violent crime this year compared to last year.
  • Local officials and organizations, such as the Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless, have expressed concerns about the potential consequences of such policies, particularly regarding the displacement of vulnerable individuals.
  • A recent executive order by Trump, signed July 24, addresses homelessness by encouraging communities to sweep homeless camps and place individuals in treatment facilities, even without consent, which has generated worry among housing and social work experts.
The phrase "Trump, Gimme Shelter!" can thus be understood in the context of recent discussions about homelessness, crime in Washington D.C., and potentially as a reference to a podcast discussing these topics in relation to Trump's policies and statements.

The song's inspiration was not initially Vietnam or social unrest, however, but Richards seeing people scurrying for shelter from a sudden rain storm.

According to him:

I had been sitting by the window of my friend Robert Fraser's apartment on Mount Street in London with an acoustic guitar when suddenly the sky went completely black and an incredible monsoon came down. It was just people running about looking for shelter – that was the germ of the idea. We went further into it until it became, you know, rape and murder are 'just a shot away'.[14]

Homelessness: causes, social significance, solutions

AI Overview

Homelessness is a complex issue with deep-rooted causes and significant social consequences. While individual circumstances like mental health issues or substance abuse play a role, systemic factors such as lack of affordable housing, poverty, and inadequate social safety nets are major contributors. Homelessness exacerbates existing social inequalities, leading to further marginalization and limiting access to healthcare, employment, and other vital resources. Effective solutions require a multifaceted approach, including increasing affordable housing, expanding access to healthcare and mental health services, addressing poverty and income inequality, and implementing housing-first initiatives.

Causes of Homelessness:

Lack of Affordable Housing:

The most significant factor is the scarcity of affordable housing options, particularly for low-income individuals and families.

Poverty and Unemployment:

Low wages, unemployment, and overall poverty create significant barriers to securing and maintaining stable housing.

Systemic Inequalities:

Historical and ongoing discrimination, such as racial and gender inequality, can lead to disproportionate rates of homelessness within certain communities.

Life Events:

Events like domestic violence, family conflict, mental health crises, substance abuse, and the transition out of institutions (prison, foster care) can trigger homelessness.

Social Significance of Homelessness:

Increased Social Exclusion:

Homeless individuals face barriers to accessing employment, education, healthcare, and other essential services, leading to social isolation and further marginalization.

Negative Health Outcomes:

Homelessness can exacerbate existing health problems and lead to new illnesses due to exposure, lack of access to care, and unhealthy living conditions.

Increased Strain on Public Resources:

Homelessness can strain emergency services, law enforcement, and the healthcare system, resulting in increased costs for communities.

Erosion of Social Fabric:

Homelessness can create a sense of unease and insecurity within communities, leading to a decline in overall social well-being.

Solutions to Homelessness:

Increase Affordable Housing:

Expanding the supply of affordable housing units is crucial for addressing the root cause of homelessness.

Strengthen Social Safety Nets:

Programs like food assistance, income support, and healthcare access can provide a crucial buffer against poverty and homelessness.

Expand Access to Healthcare and Mental Health Services:

Ensuring access to affordable, quality healthcare and mental health services is vital for addressing the health needs of people experiencing homelessness.

Housing-First Approaches:

Implementing housing-first strategies, which prioritize providing immediate housing and supportive services, has proven effective in ending homelessness for many individuals.

Address Systemic Inequalities:

Tackling systemic issues like racial discrimination and income inequality is essential for preventing homelessness and creating a more equitable society.

Promote Community Involvement:

Engaging communities in finding solutions and providing support for individuals experiencing homelessness can foster greater understanding and collaboration.
